District Social: Wine Not!
Join Patrick Alexander for a brief exploration of the joys and pleasures of drinking wine. Patrick raised his family in the Bordeaux wine country of SW France, the Piedmont wine country of NW Italy and the wine country of northern California before moving to Florida. While working with Marcy Ullom at the University of Miami, he developed a popular wine appreciation program which was offered exclusively in the faculty lounge. For the past 10 years, he has been offering a 3-week wine appreciation program at Books & Books and the Coral Gables Museum. Patrick’s many published works include “The Booklover’s Guide to Wine” which was featured at the 2017 Miami Book Fair.

Love to listen to music?  Play music?  Sing-a-long?  Our own RC Miami President, Norby Rudel, musician extraordinaire, will be hosting a music jam for all you talented folks.  Don’t think you can sing?  Don’t worry about it!  This is all about chilling with your friends and listening to good entertainment.  Get your guitar tuned, sing some scales – but get ready for a great musical evening.  We have a surprise guest from out of town as well!

ADAPTABILITY: Rotary Now-Pivot Point or End Point – Brad Howard

Rotary was built on face to face interactions that created friendships that effected lasting change in our communities.  With the challenges of today, fellowship looks very different.  Does this mean that Rotary has lost one of its vital, core values, or will Rotary be able to adapt to a new way of connecting with each other and our community?  Brad will explore the essential qualities of Rotary and why we should all be optimistic of Rotary’s future.

Brad served as RI Director (2015-17) representing Zones 25-26 on the west coast of the US.  He has been on the front lines of the membership issue, researching, talking to folks, analyzing, and creating responses to the challenge we have with membership in North America.  Join Brad for a thoughtful discussion about how we adapt to our ‘new normal’.

REACH: Rotaract:  The Present & Future of Rotary – Ignacio Gonzalez

Join the conversation about the fantastic new Rotaract status and how Rotaractors can do greater things in Rotary as a new membership type.

Ignacio is the right person to be facilitating this discussion. A law graduate, and a Rotaractor since 2013 in Chile, he is a current member of the RI Committee “Elevate Rotaract Task Force”. He has held multiple positions at the district, multi-district, and international levels and has spoken at the Rotaract Pre-Convention, Rotary Convention, and Rotary Institutes. In addition, he has a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.
