Hurricane Dorian Relief
As you know, Grand Bahama Island and Abaco Island took a direct hit from Hurricane Dorian, with winds that reached 180 miles per hour. This storm has battered these islands and the rebuilding process will take years.
Grand Bahama Island has 5 Rotary clubs and is a valued part of Rotary District 6990. Rotary International District 6990 has secured a 181-foot ship and begun the efforts to fill four (4) 20-foot containers with needed supplies to aid in the Hurricane Dorian Relief Efforts.
Thank you for your generous donations, our warehouse is full. We can no longer accept any new donations of items. We have already sent our first shipment and the boat is on its way back for us to fill the 4 shipping contanters once again. We will schedule another packing event this week, so please check our Facebook page and website often for updated information.
If your organization had previously arranged to be a collection site for us, please contact us so we can make arrangements to store the items. Remember also that if you started a collection site it is your responsibility to transport the items to us. We do not have transportation available to deliver the items collected.
At this point we are beginning phase 2 of our operation and while we will continue to deliver food, toiletries, and medical supplies for immediate needs we are preparing to obtain larger items to help rebuild the community. This includes fans, generators, trucks, buses and building supplies.
