A Member of the Rotary Club of Perrine-Cutler Ridge/Palmetto Bay received a $4,000.00 Grant from their Employer and has directed that it all be donated to Rotary.

Maria C. Kesti, Past-President of the Rotary Club of Perrine-Cutler Ridge/Palmetto Bay was nominated by the local offices of her employer, Humana, a national health insurance company, for a special national Volunteerism at Humana grant, “Dollars 4 Doers,” for Volunteer Community Service. On December 7th, she was informed that she had been awarded this special grant from the Humana Volunteer Network recognizing her for her Volunteer Service efforts and countless hours of volunteering and community service in the South Florida community.

As an aspect of this special Volunteer Service Grant, the award recipient is allowed to direct the $4,000.00 of funds to any non-profit organization they wish.  Maria advised the grant committee to allocate all of the funds to Rotary International.

“I was very humbled and extremely surprised by the award announcement, especially since I was not aware that there was such an award and I had been nominated. And when I was informed that I could choose the non-profits to receive the funds, I did not hesitate to advise them of my request to provide the entire amount to Rotary,” stated award recipient Maria Kesti. “Rotary does so much good in the world! And I want to see it continue,” she added.

Club President Todd Lary stated, “We are very proud of Maria and her being awarded this special grant. Those of us that know her are not surprised based upon all of the volunteer service that she provides in our community or surprised that she is having the award funds directed to Rotary.”

“Maria is and always has been an example to all Rotarians, as she leads by example and truly conducts herself following the Rotary Motto, “Service Above Self! Her efforts to serve and help our local community and global community are an inspiration to all,” stated Drew Monaghan, Governor of Rotary International District 6990.
