Not sure about RYLA? Here’s a quick video from last year’s conference that will surely excite you!
RYLA is a Rotary International approved program, sponsored by our District 6990, that gives high school students an opportunity to learn leadership, team building, conflict resolution and ethical decision making all while having a fun 3 day retreat!
This Rotary year RYLA will be held February 1-3, 2019 at the Boy Scout SEABASE in Islamorada, Florida.
The cost per attendee will be $275.00 and will include lodging, meals, activities and transportation from Broward or Dade on Friday morning, February 1 to return to origin afternoon of Sunday, February 3.
This year we will have the capacity for 150 students. This represents about 3 students per Rotary Club.
Generally, attendees are Interactors and are sponsored by their respective sponsoring Rotary Clubs. We ask that you NOT sponsor students who have participated in RYLA in the past two years.
If your club does not sponsor an Interact club at a local high school, please consider sponsoring a qualified Junior orSophomore in a local high school that would be interested in starting an Interact club or in sponsoring additional students from one of the Interact clubs sponsored by Rotary clubs in your area. If you need the names of those clubs please contact your Assistant Governor and they will help.
In looking for students to sponsor I refer you to the RYLA handbook

In general, all young adults nominated to attend a RYLA should have demonstrated leadership potential within their communities. While different RYLAs use different eligibility requirements, most successful candidates for RYLA meet some or all of the following qualifications:
• Demonstrated leadership experience or potential
• A cooperative nature and willingness to participate in a group
• An awareness of current events and international issues
• Strong communication skills
• Good performance in school or work
• Enthusiasm for sharing newfound skills with others
• Proven dedication to community service
Registration will be open October 15, 2018 and will run through December 21, 2018. Those clubs wishing to sponsor more than 3 students should contact me so that we can work with clubs sponsoring less than 3 to ensure full capacity at the event.
Having the advantage of working with those who have conducted RYLA before, and some really terrific Rotarians working with RYLA this year, we look forward to giving an awesome leadership experience to these young future Rotarians!
